Regal Kids from Colne
by Colne Life magazine
With Colne’s annual gala just around the corner, it’s that time again when Colne royalty is selected...
It’s not long now until the highly anticipated Colne Gala on Saturday, June 15th, and in preparation for the big day, I was invited to judge for the roles of this year’s Queen, Princess, Prince, and King vacancies alongside Colne Gala committee member Gary Seed and landlady of The Union Exchange, Danielle Hughes.
For the first time in the gala’s history, the committee members decided that it was about time that boys should be celebrated too; considering we now have King Charles III, it seemed only fitting that Colne should have its king and, of course, a Prince. “We decided to include lads in the gala this year,” said Neil Butterworth, the organiser and local councillor. “It’s a great opportunity for them to develop their confidence skills and meet new people. They will be representing the town in other local processions, and the judges have certainly done a good job of picking some great kids who, I’m sure, will do us proud!”
Congratulations to the winners…
King George Greenwood
Queen Willow Wilson
Prince Rio Monk
Princess Bronte Gray
Get ready to cheer for our newly-crowned royals as they grace the Colne’s Gala procession on Saturday, June 15th. The parade will kick off from the bottom of Albert Road at 10.45 am, leading through the town centre. The excitement continues as we head up to Holthouse for the annual fun fair, live musical performances, stalls, and the thrilling final of Colne’s Got Talent.
