Barnoldswick Town under-14 girls win the ELFA cup

Many of our readers may be familiar with the exploits of Barnoldswick Town under-14 girls, who started a brand-new team back in 2023. Over half the team consists of Colne-based girls who, in their first-ever season, narrowly lost in the EFLA cup final and finished 4th in the league.

However, the girls were determined to go one step further this season. Team manager Lee Banks said, “In less than 18 months, we created a brand-new team from scratch and welcomed several girls to the team who had never kicked a ball before. I was amazed by how quickly the girls learned, and their dedication and hard work have certainly reaped rewards!”

The girls who competed in their second ELFA cup final in a row, at Townfield Mobility Arena in Great Harwood on the 27th April were not to be outdone this time, winning the cup in a thrilling penalty shootout against Ribchester when the game finished 2-2. It seems more success is on the horizon for the girls who currently sit at the top of the ELFA Under 14s Girls League, needing a positive result in one more game to clinch the title and a historic double! Good luck, lasses…
