New Skate Park for Colne!

by Colne Life

There are plans to create a new skate park in Colne and Pendle Council want local people in the know to help them with the design.

Council officers want to set up a group of interested people from the skating/parkour/BMX community that would like to be involved in the design of a potential new concrete skate park off Vivary Way.

Councillor Asjad Mahmood, Leader of Pendle Borough Council, said: “This will be another great asset for the borough.

“It will be yet another way for our younger residents to exercise and socialise and I think in consulting them, we can ensure we get the design right and it will be used to its full potential.”

Phil Riley, the Council’s Green Spaces Manager, added: “We have consultants to work with us on the design, but we would like to hear from people that already use a skate park and have ideas on what we need to create, to come and talk to us about what they would like to see.”

Pendle Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Housing, Health & Wellbeing, Councillor Mohammad Ammer, added: “This is more great news for our younger residents, and thinking about their health and wellbeing, it will be another option for them to get out in the fresh air and exercising.”

If you are interested in helping with the design of this new skate park for Pendle, please register your details so we can then get in touch with a meeting date – email parks@pendle.gov.uk or call 01282 661587.
