MOST PEOPLE RETURN FROM HOLIDAY WITH A SOUVENIR, COLNE HAIRDRESSER JODIE RETURNED WITH A FIANCE AND A DOG
Local hairdresser Jodie O’Neil from Hair by Jodie O located on New Market Street in Colne embarked on a trip of a lifetime to Thailand with boyfriend Jonni Orrell. While most people bring back a souvenir of their holiday, Jodie returned with a fiancé and a dog…
Arriving in Bangkok on the first day of their adventure, the engagement ring was burning a hole in Jonni’s pocket as they wandered around the city. Knowing it would be the perfect location, he waited until they arrived at the Sky Bar, one of the highest rooftop cocktail bars in the city, before getting down on one knee.
“It was very cute and very romantic – it was perfect, and I couldn’t have asked for a better proposal,” Jodie beamed.
Together the newly engagement pair spent New Year in Chiang Mai, then rented a motorbike and travelled across the country.
Once in Ko Samui, the couple headed to a dog sanctuary. Before the trip, Jodie came across Niall on Instagram, a man on a mission to rescue dogs from the streets of Thailand. She had no intention of adopting a dog, but fate intervened. Niall had just rescued a two-week-old puppy that had been abandoned on the street and was in need of a home. “She was a street dog and found so young, so we don’t know her breed,” Jodie explains, “She had no mum or siblings and was found by a couple who gave her to Niall who’s had her on his land ever since.”
The couple both fell in love with the pup, naming her Lottie. In May, Lottie is due to be reunited with Jodie and Jonni when she jets off to her new beginnings in Lancashire!
