RUNNING 48 MILES IN 48 HOURS
Two runners from LM Fitness in Colne, attempted The Goggins Challenge 2023 – an extreme running challenge, they ran 48 miles in 48 hours and raising more than £1,500 for the local East Lancashire Charity, Positive Action in the Community.
Ultra runner and US Navy SEAL David Goggins created the Goggins Challenge 4x4x48. It consists of four miles of running every four hours for 48 hours. This year, LM Fitness members Gareth Metcalfe and Andrew Carson decided to take up the challenge to raise awareness and funds for Positive Action in the Community (PAC). PAC is a local charity that supports those in the East Lancashire community affected by Youth Homelessness, Domestic Abuse, and Emotional Health and Wellbeing. Their Goggins Challenge started at 8pm on Friday, 3rd March, at the LM Fitness Centre in Colne. At the beginning of each four-mile run, every four hours – the runners went live on Facebook to deliver 12 appeals for fundraising, explaining the many different services that PAC has to offer. At 4pm on Sunday, 5th March, they completed their last run of four miles, 48 miles in total.
Two runners set out and achieved what would be considered impossible for many to run 48 miles in 48 hours, and there is still time to support LM Fitness in its fundraising efforts. To donate, please go to https://bit.ly/LMFitness-PAC
