Book the main hall, the lounge or the whole centre
If you’re looking for the perfect venue to host your next special occasion, you might not need to look far. Tucked away in the picturesque village of Trawden, the Trawden Forest Community Centre offers a welcoming, versatile, and surprisingly affordable space for celebrations of all kinds.
The Ideal Setting for Every Celebration
Whether you’re planning a wedding, a birthday party, a christening, or simply a get-together with loved ones, this cherished local venue has something for everyone. With two flexible function rooms – the Main Hall and the Lounge – you can easily tailor your booking to suit your guest list and your vision.
The Main Hall is a bright, airy space that accommodates up to 90 guests. It comes with a fully licensed bar, a well-equipped kitchen, and access to a charming garden with outdoor seating – ideal for sunny-day celebrations. “We have volunteers who help decorate the space,” says Volunteer Coordinator Molly Ralphson. “Bunting, chair covers, table settings – we make it feel truly special.”
Weddings, Big Days & Small Gatherings
Licensed for civil ceremonies, the centre lets you host your wedding, reception, and evening party all under one roof. With hire rates starting at just £13.50 per hour, it’s exceptional value for money in a stunning countryside setting.
Planning a smaller event? The Lounge offers an intimate, relaxed environment for up to 20 guests – perfect for meetings, workshops, or cosy catch-ups. Catering and refreshments are available, adding a personal touch to any event.
Want the whole place to yourself? You can hire the entire venue – including both function rooms, the car park, and the surrounding grounds – giving you all the space you need to celebrate your way.
A True Community Triumph
The centre is more than just a venue – it’s a remarkable example of community spirit. In 2014, it was rescued from closure by local residents. More than a decade later, it thrives thanks to a dedicated team of volunteers and two part-time staff members funded by the National Lottery.
“Most of our volunteers are from Pendle,” Molly explains. “They know how vital the centre is. Volunteering here boosts mental well-being, fosters friendships, and is genuinely enjoyable. You get to work with the nicest people.”
And there’s always room for more. If you’ve got a knack for décor, a love for community, or you know your way around a pint, they’d love to hear from you.
More Than Just Events
From weekly Tai Chi classes to the Thursday Friendship Group, the centre is a lifeline for many in the local community. “It’s hard to imagine where people would go without this place,” says Molly.
The events calendar is just as vibrant. Starting September 14, the centre will host free monthly Sunday drop-ins from 2 pm to 8 pm – kicking off with an Abba Tribute. On October 10, enjoy a wine-tasting evening with Burns Wine of Clitheroe – tickets are just £16. There’s also a Northern Soul afternoon later in October and a Country & Western-themed event in November.
Support the Centre – and Maybe Win Big
Another great way to support the centre is by joining the 500 Club. For just £20 per year, you’re entered into 14 prize draws, with three winners each time. Recent prizes included £145, £85, and £60 – and your entry helps fund this much-loved space.
