We chat to the Colne Royalty of 2024

After a busy summer packed full of royal engagements our Colne royalty kindly found us a few seconds in their busy schedule to share why they wanted to be regal and offer top tips on how to be crowned in 2025!

KING GEORGE GREENWOOD

“I read in ColneLife that this year, there would be a King, Prince, Princess, and Queen. It was a good opportunity to show that even if you are a bit different or struggle with a lot of things, you can still do what you want. It felt really good to be crowned King, and I was really happy.”

George’s Top Tip: Just go for it, and if you don’t get it, it doesn’t matter. You can try again next year.

QUEEN WILLOW WILSON

“It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and I wanted to represent my hometown, which I am proud of. Unfortunately, I was ill when it was Colne Gala, but I represented the town in other galas this summer.”

Willow’s Top Tip: Talk about your hobbies! I love football and have been playing since I was little. I’m also a massive makeup fan and love fashion.

PRINCE RIO MONK

“I wanted to wave at all my friends from the car and feel confident. I liked the procession best, sitting in the car and waving at everyone.”

Rio’s Top Tip: Dress smart for the interviews and wear a suit like I did!

PRINCESS BRONTE GRAY

“Because I love Colne, and enjoy dressing up! I really enjoyed all the friendly people waving and cheering us on.”

Bronte’s Top Tip: Just smile and enjoy it!
