Do you have loft insulation? If not, and you live in a Council Tax Band A, B, C or D property, there are grants available to make sure you keep warm this winter. There is £10million available nationally for loft insulation for properties that are A-D council tax rated, as part of the national Connected for Warmth Scheme. Anyone is entitled to the grant regardless of household income. But it is available nationally on a first come, first served basis.
Councillor Asjad Mahmood, Leader of Pendle Borough Council, said: “This is fantastic news for the people of Pendle who will be able to benefit from these grants.
“With energy bills increasing, we all want to make sure that we minimise the amount of heat our homes lose. Insulating your home can reduce your energy bills by stopping heat from escaping, which, in turn, reduces energy wastage. This scheme is also an important way of reducing carbon emissions and easing fuel poverty.”
Sarah Whitwell, Head of Housing and Environmental Health for Pendle Council, added: “Connected for Warmth offers fully-funded loft insulation installed by experienced Trustmark-registered professionals.
“If you have a loft, then insulating it is one of the easiest ways to keep your home warmer in winter and cooler in summer. As much as a quarter of the heat from a poorly insulated home is lost through the roof. Many older homes have a small amount of insulation, but today’s building regulations require it to be around 11 inches thick, so, a loft insulation top-up can also be beneficial. If you currently have less than 7.5 inches of loft insulation, then we may be able to top this up.”
Pendle Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Housing, Health & Wellbeing, Councillor Mohammad Ammer, added: “This is a great way to help reduce energy use and keep your home warmer for less. The only criteria to apply for one of these grants is that you live in a Council Tax Band A, B, C or D property.
“People throughout the country are entitled to apply for them, so it is important for our residents to ack quickly and take advantage of this opportunity to keep warm this winter.”
